Inclusive Internationalisation of Higher Education
A Review of Contemporary Issues and Proposed Solutions
Abstract: Inclusive internationalisation is a young field of study in
which scholars argue for and conduct research into ways
to provide wider access to the benefits of internationali-
sation in higher education. This review provides a critical
lens on the identified issues and proposed solutions in
the contemporary literature. It focuses on student par-
ticipation through international student mobility (ISM) or
internationalisation at home (IaH) to further stimulate the
debate and work towards more inclusive internationalisa-
tion. IaH should not be positioned as the solution to the
exclusive nature of ISM. Rather, it can be a separate yet
related strategy that regardless of issues with ISM is key
to develop and implement.
