Transfer of “brains” into the German labour market
For Germany, the shortage of skilled workers is existential. For other countries the combination of population explosion, a saturated labour market and the lack of prospects for young people is equally threatening. Labour migration would be a triple win. But Germany is hesitant: the politicians, because of struggles with problems of understanding and communication; the companies out of ignorance, reservations, or bad experience. Life punishes those who come too late. It is time to proactively take up the challenge and explore the potentials of binational career services for the transfer of “brains” as a recognised transfer channel in the context of knowledge and technology transfer (Hamm et al 2013, p. 36; Jäger 2016, p. 30ff.). This is the subject of this article.
