Transforming higher education institutions

The analysis and programmes of the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNI)

Higher education institutions (HEIs) have a key role in tackling current global challenges. UNESCO and the Global University Network for Innovation (GUNi) have recognised the strategic role of universities in building a new social contract with an eye towards 2050. This commitment has been reflected in events such as the third World Higher Education Conference. In this context, GUNi has identified essential factors necessary for the transformation of HEIs and their positioning as key agents for the promotion of public services, international cooperation, and society’s sustainable development. Based on this analysis, GUNi has designed and is developing three strategic programmes with the aim of accompanying HEIs in rethinking their roles and building this new social contract.
