Strategy for the Implementation of the Policy Framework for Internationalisation of Higher Education in South Africa
The Policy Framework on Internationalisation of Higher Education in South Africa (the Policy Framework) was promulgated in 2020. It enjoins universities to develop their institutional internationalisation policies aligned with its guidance of the sector. It expressly anticipates the development of a national implementation strategy and plan, as well as the development and alignment of institutional policies. Based on a literature review, this article contemplates best practices for the implementation strategy of the Policy Framework. The paper is grounded in the idea of education as a public good and aims to advance the internationalisation of higher education for social good, promoting the inclusive development and application of a hybrid policy implementation model.
